We’re excited to announce a new opportunity for a Risk Manager, Appraisal Review to join our team!

This unique role is at the heart of our quality assurance efforts—supporting the development of a national review programs, coaching reviewers, and helping to raise the bar on appraisal report quality across Canada. GENERAL SCOPE OF ROLE 

The Risk Manager, Appraisal Review, will play a key role within the Mandatory Review Program and in auditing the quality of appraisals, reporting to the Director of Admissions, Accreditation, and Appraisal Review. This individual will collaborate closely with volunteer committees and staff at the National office, and stakeholders.

This role will lead the creation of a reviewer program complete with training materials and necessary tools and resources both for reviewers and Members to reference. Tracking for consistency of feedback from reviews will be measured over time to determine the success of the training materials and adoption. Using previous Work Product Review (WPR) and other data, baseline benchmarks will be created to measure results in improvement in the quality of Members’ reports. Year-over-year comparisons of claims would also continue to be measured, and feedback from stakeholders on quality will also be sought.

While the role is ideally based at the offices in Ottawa, consideration will be given to candidates with the capability to work remotely.

Reporting to: Director, Admissions, Accreditation and Appraisal Review

Location: Ottawa, ON (Hybrid/Remote options available)

Position details/conditions:  37.5 hours per week. (possibly less with an ideal candidate)

RESPONSIBILITIES

Quality Control & Review

  • Evaluate and analyze reviewer feedback to ensure alignment with CUSPAP standards and maintain consistency across reviews.
  • Provide constructive feedback to reviewers, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.

Training & Development

  • Lead the development of training materials and resources to establish a consistent review process across all review programs.
  • Implement best practices to improve the quality of appraisal reports and enhance reviewer effectiveness.

Benchmarking and Performance Tracking

  • Establish baseline benchmarks using historical Work Product Review (WPR) data to measure improvements in report quality.
  • Monitor and analyze trends in review outcomes, ensuring year-over-year improvements.
  • Collect and integrate lender feedback on report quality to refine and enhance the review process.

Reporting & Insights

  • Generate reports and insights to support the Mandatory Review Program, as well as broader education, designation, and complaint resolution processes.

Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as required to support quality assurance initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • AACI Member in good standing.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the appraisal profession.
  • Extensive experience with a broad range of appraisal assignments, including both residential and non-residential work.
  • Proven track record of results-driven work in collaboration with Committees.

  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset but not required.
